Manchester’s ‘The Second Floor’ is a project of Nolan Watkinson who many will have seen as he toured the world in his other role as Bassist in ‘Spectrum’ (Sonic Boom/Spacemen 3) One Unique Signal are a London based 5 piece playing heavy repetitious guitars and can often be caught performing onstage with Stephen Lawrie at Telescopes gigs. E8 3RH £3 Entry. 7pm - 4.30am THE SECOND FLOOR (http://www.myspace.com/thesecondfloorband) They pre-dated the space-rock/shoegaze revival by a good couple of years, they opened Manchester’s first ever Sonic Cathedral gig, and they split just as the world caught up. Now The Second Floor are back. Singer/songwriter Nolan Watkinson has toured the world as part of Sonic Boom’s Spectrum, but they’ve found time to write some new tracks too which will feature alongside a few you might remember. “One of my favourite bands around at the moment” Mani(Stone Roses/Primal Scream) “If you’re into Jesus And Mary Chain, Clinic, BRMC, Primal Scream and The Stooges then you’re gonna love this lot. These shows in July will see a new set introduced as well as coinciding with the download and LTD edition release of new track ‘Gora’. “Finding myself up close and personal, I’m still impressed with their wall of sound, power and projection. People keep telling me to wear ear plugs at gigs and One Unique Signal are a band who could do some serious damage to your hearing.” SUBBA CULTURE “One Unique Signal play with the ferocious detachment of men so far gone in possession that everything else has become irrelevant.” DROWNED IN SOUND THE HUMAN RACE (http://www.myspace.com/tthehumanRACE) MEN OF GOOD FORTUNE (http://www.myspace.com/themenofgoodfortune) London based MOGF met one day in a school room toilet. They have met every so often since then, and currently enjoy talking about similar subjects; sexual dandyism, parental obsessions and perhaps out-dated theories regarding freud and one’s own mother. Following on from the obvious success of cult acts ‘Spacemen 3’ and ‘The Darkside’, Pete went on to form ‘Alphastone’. Signed by Greg Shaw of BOMP! records they toured with ‘The Silver Apples’, signed to Enraptured records and provided the soundtrack to Domenic Dejoseph’s film ‘The Leafblower’. ‘Alphastone’ are still a going concern but focus is curently directed towards this new project ‘The Urgz’.
